Super Brief Intro to Chakra Theory

What is a Chakra?

Chakra, pronounced 'Chuck-Ra' is the Sanskrit word for "wheel" or "circle". Chakras are energy centers in the body that correspond to bundles of nerves and major organs. They are spinning disks of energy that should stay open and aligned. We have seven major Chakra's, or energy centers, running from the base of the spine to just above the head. They are the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakra's. Each energy center governs different characteristics of who we are.

Why is it beneficial to balance our Chakras?

When our energy centers become blocked, depleted or even vitiated, it can lead to an increased feeling of stress, low energy or even depression and/or anxiety. Our entire system can feel "off". By balancing the Chakras we can improve mental clarity, enhance energy healing for stress relief, and let go of tension that accumulates as we move through our human experience.

How can we begin to balance our Chakras?

Yoga movement, meditation and Reiki are a few ways we can align our energy centers and get back to feeling more in tune with all systems of our being. We can also work with crystals and sound tools such as tuning forks and sound bowls. There is no better time than now to nurture not only your physical being but every sheath of your being, including your energy.
